The Plant Underground is a small hobby business on a mission to flip the plant trend upside down. We offer plant sales, consults, designs, and education.
​Plant Sales.
We focus on procuring and propagating rare, quality houseplants to sell in the Tacoma area. We value conservation efforts across the globe and promise to practice sustainable growing and procurement practices. We are against plant poaching.
Consults.
We offer in-home consultations and houseplant health inspections to make recommendations that are catered to your specific environment.
Designs.
Enough with the blush colored pots and frou-frou white washed walls- we want to bring grungy houseplant designs to market that reflect the true Pacific Northwest.
Education.
We put our heads together to create the Houseplant Doctrine, our collaborative attempt at simplifying indoor plant care.

Hi there! Hey! We're Pam & Bekka
We are a mighty partnership, the two of us! In the spring of 2018 we created The Tacoma Houseplant Club, a social club in the Puget Sound that connects houseplant enthusiasts together and builds community. We focused on branding, classes and workshops, and bringing people together through casual hangouts and formal plant swaps over the last year. The club has morphed into a movement with over 850 active members, so we decided it was time to start our next venture- The Plant Underground.

With years of experience growing, maintaining, and troubleshooting houseplants we decided to focus our efforts on sharing what we know. We share an intense love of botany and a distaste for the cutesy plant trend- it just isn't us. So, here's the Plant Underground-our grungy Pacific Northwest plant hobby mash-up.
This is what we think the houseplant hobby needs: Grit, gray, and good information.
